Nursing Admissions 2024 in Pakistan

All public and private nursing colleges affiliated with NEBP & PMDC are accepting applications for admission into their upcoming academic sessions beginning in 2024.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programs prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to practice nursing. The Program is designed to prepare clinically competent nurses. The Program prepares nurses to provide holistic care by applying critical thinking and serving as change agents in nursing practice and education.

The Program consists of four years of academic study and a mandatory internship for one year. After five years, students are required to pass the PNC licensure exam. The PNC licensure exam will allow students to become Registered Nurses.

A nursing degree can improve your employment prospects. Admissions to nursing programs in Pakistan are generally open in October and November.

HBS College of Nursing – Admissions Open

Admissions are also open at the HBS Institute of Allied Health Sciences. This institute is affiliated with SZAMBU. Rest assured, you will get your degree. Students can apply online or by hand at the campus. The admissions in Nursing field are offered in the following degree programs.

1. BS-N
2. Post RN
3. CNA

BS-N

The candidates have to clear Matric in the science group or have to get at least fifty percent marks in the FSc pre-medical group. The tuition fee per credit hour is 8000 PKR. Keep in mind that this is a 4-year program.

Post RN

Post-Registered Nursing is a 2-year program. Following are the eligibility criteria for it.

1. Matric in science group
2. Diploma in Nursing
3. Diploma in midwifery
4. One year of experience as a Registered Nurse.

The tuition fee per credit hour is 8000 PKR

Certified Nursing Assistant

This is a 2-year diploma program. Following is the eligibility criteria for it.

1. 45% in Fsc pre-medical, OR
2. 45% in Matric (science group), OR
3. 50% in either Matric or FA in arts group.

Sheikh Fatima Institute of Nursing and Health Sciences announced the Generic BSN Degree program (2023-2027)

This is good news for all the young students aspiring to become nurses and serve in hospitals. Sheikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute has announced the BSN degree program for the 2023-2027 batch. This is a generic BSN course. The duration of this course is 4 years. Eligibility criteria for BSN 4-year program

You need to fulfill the following requirements. PNC and UHS set these requirements.

1. Matric Science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology)
2. Age: 17-25 years old.
3. Fsc (Pre-medical) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology group.
4. Minimum 50% in Intermediate-level
5. If you have a Hafiz-e-Quran certificate, 20 marks will be added to Fsc.

Admission schedule

Now, let’s talk about the schedule.

Applicants can get admission forms from the nursing institute. They will get it after they have paid a bank challan form of 500 PKR. The candidate has to make this payment in NBP Sheikh Zayed Branch, Lahore. The account number is 3154820895

Degree Programs in Nursing

Students interested in nursing can be admitted to the following degree programs offered by different nursing schools.

1. BS Nursing (Generic-04 Year Degree Program)

In this four-year Program, nursing students are trained to provide safe, competent, and compassionate care following theory and professional standards. The curriculum emphasizes relational practice, leadership, critical nursing inquiry, and nursing ethics.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the criteria for admission to BS Nursing (Generic).

Qualification	a. Matric Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology as compulsory subjects) b. FSc (Pre-Medical) with 50% marks minimum (Physics, Chemistry & Biology as compulsory subjects)
Age	14-35
Gender Ratio	Open Merit

2. Post RN BSN/Post RN BSM ( 02 years Degree Program)

It is a two-year program designed to provide experienced registered nurses with the knowledge and skills to practice clinically competent nursing care.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the criteria for admission in Post RN BSN/Post RN BSM.

Qualification	Matriculation with Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) As per HEC notification, Matric Arts
	b. A nursing diploma
	C. Midwifery Diploma (or any post-basic specialty for men)
Experience	01 year as a Registered Nurse (RN)

3. Masters in Nursing MSN ( 02 year Degree Program)

It is usually completed after a nurse obtains a bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field.

The master’s degree in nursing opens up the possibility of working as a nurse educator, an administrator, or a health policy advisor, among other career options.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the criteria for admission to a Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN).

Category-I

Qualification	a. Minimum of 10 years of schooling (Matric, FA, and F.Sc.)
	b. Nursing Diploma, three years
	c. A one-year diploma in midwifery or A PNC-registered post-basic specialty diploma.
	d. Two-year post-RN BSN/BSM degree program approved by PNC and Higher Education Commission
Experience	A minimum of one year’s experience as an RN is required for admission to the Post RN BSN/BSM program.
	After completing a post-RN BSN, one year of experience as a nurse (Including primary and tertiary care inpatients and outpatients, as well as teaching and research) for admission to an MSN degree.

Category-II

Qualification	Twelve years of schooling (Matric + FSc Pre-Medical)
	PNC registered generic BSN nursing degree(4 years).
Experience	Internship (bedside care) for one year
	One year experience as a registered nurse (including inpatient and outpatient care in primary and tertiary care)

Diploma Programs in Nursing

Students interested in nursing can take admissions in the following diplomas offered by different nursing schools.

1. Nurse Midwife/Post-Basic Speciality

During the Post-Basic Midwifery Programme, a professional nurse midwife is equipped with the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to deliver safe, effective, evidence-based health care and assume responsibility for their practice. It is a one-year diploma program.

Eligibility Criteria

Only registered nurses (RN) are eligible to apply for this diploma.

2. Lady Health Visitors (LHV)

In Pakistan, lady health visitors (LHVs) have been a specific cadre of health care providers. Their services include basic nursing care, maternal child health services, and community worker training in urban and rural communities. It is a 2-year diploma program.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following academic levels:

Qualification	Minimum 45% marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are compulsory)
	Matriculation (Science) with at least 45 % marks (Physics, Chemistry & Biology as compulsory subjects)
Age	14-35 years

3. Community Midwife (CMW)

A community midwife is a type of midwife who provides care to women and their babies in their neighborhoods. After completing the CMW diploma program, you can practice as a Registered Midwife (RM). The CMW diploma program focuses on training rural women as midwives. It is an 18 months diploma program.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates interested in getting admission to Community Midwife must fulfill the following criterion.

Qualification	Matriculation with 40% marks in the arts or sciences
Age Limit	14-40 years

4.  Family Welfare Workers (FWW)

 Family health workers were put into operation as part of a neighborhood health center program. A resident given requisite training as a multipurpose worker can perform in-home nursing and social advocacy. It is a 2-year diploma program.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following academic levels:

Qualification	Minimum 45% marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
	Matriculation (Science) with a minimum of 45 % marks (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects)
Age Limit	14-35 years

5. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Diploma program is intended to provide students with the knowledge and skills to become certified nursing assistants and hands-on experience helping patients with daily activities at primary, secondary, and tertiary levels.

Previously known as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), this course is only for females. It is accredited by the Pakistan Nursing Council in Islamabad and affiliated with the Nursing Examination Board in Peshawar. 

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet one of the following academic levels:

Qualification	Minimum 45% marks in FSc (Pre-Medical) (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
	Matric (Science) with a minimum of 45 % marks (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology are compulsory subjects).
	Matric (Arts) with 50% mark,
	FA with a 50% mark or an equivalent
Age Limit	14-35 years
