Q1. What is MDCAT, and why is it required?
The Medical and Dental College Admission Test is an acronym for MDCAT. This test is required for those students who wish to pursue careers in the field of medicine. MDCAT is an entrance exam for testing students’ ability who want to seek admission to any of Punjab’s most prestigious medical or dentistry colleges.

Q2. What are the sets of requirements or eligibility criteria for appearing in the MDCAT?
For appearing in the Medical and Dental Colleges admission test, the candidate must have passed their Intermediate exam in the pre-medical group.

The minimum passing percentage required for students to appear in the MDCAT is 60%, which means one must secure 660 marks out of 1100 from BISE (Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Pakistan).

If the student belongs to a foreign examination board (for instance, A’ levels or I.B.), they can also appear in the Medical and Dental Colleges admission test. However, such a student must have passed the science subjects (Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry) at their Intermediate level.

PMC demands an equivalence certificate issued from IBCC or the Inter-Board Committee of the Chairman of Pakistan for such foreign examination board students. The equivalent certificate is only issued if the student has acquired marks equal to 60% of the Intermediate level exams in Pakistan.

Q3. When does the MDCAT exam admission process begin?
Admission to the MDCAT examination will commence immediately following the completion of the Intermediate or FSc exams in July.

Q4. How can one apply for appearing in MDCAT? What is the procedure?
Once the schedule for MDCAT is announced on the official University of Pakistan Medical Commission website, the candidates can get themselves registered online. This procedure is usually followed by issuing a bank challan for each of the respective candidates.

Q5. What is the registration fee for appearing in the MDCAT?
MDCAT 2023 Registration fee is 3000.

Q6. In which months does PMC conduct the MDCAT?
MDCAT 2023 Date is 30th August to 30th September 2023.

Q7. What are the necessary documents required to apply for MDCAT 2023?
The following documents are needed to apply for MDCAT

  • B-Form
  • Result in the card of HSSC if issued, otherwise not required
  • Result Card of SSC/Intermediate
  • Domicile Certificate
  • Latest passport size photo

Q8. What is the MDCAT syllabus, and where to prepare it?
The MDCAT syllabus shall be drawn from authorized HSSC, FSc, or comparable examination materials. All questions will come from the Chemistry, English, Biology, and Physics courses. There will be no questions not covered in the curriculum as mentioned above. All students must study from their course books and then practice MCQs.

Q9. What is the MDCAT pattern or format? How many MCQS does it comprises?
MDCAT is a Multiple-choice questions-based test. It comprises 220 MCQs with 4 or 5 options each to be solved in a limited time. The MCQs will be in the following format

  • 22 MCQs from English
  • 88 MCQs from Biology
  • 22 MCQs from Aptitude

Q10. What are the total marks for MDCAT?
Each question carries one mark. So the total marks are 220, one for each MCQ.

Q11. How many hours are given for solving MDCAT?
A total of 150 minutes is given to each candidate for solving MDCAT.

Q12. Is there any negative marking in MDCAT?
There is no Negative Marking in National MDCAT Test.
