Eligibility Criteria For the ECAT Test
Applicants who have passed or appeared in Intermediate, BSc, DAE, B-Tech, or any Equivalent Examination are eligible for this Entry Test.
ECAT Test Pattern
The ECAT test pattern will be that the test will consist of MCQs, and the total MCQs will be 100, and each MCQ has 4 Marks, so the Total Marks of the ECAT test will be 400.
Also, Negative Marking will take place in this ECAT test; according to this negative rule, 0.25 Marks will be cut if you select the wrong option. Suppose you solve 4 MCQs, but these 4 selected Mcqs will be wrong, then a total of 5 Marks will be cut, so keep this in mind.
ECAT Test Syllabus
UET ECAT syllabus 2023 will be following as consisting of four groups, but one group will be related to the Mdcat because it will consist of Biology subjects, not Math, so this combination will consist of major subjects of the intermediate that will be explained below one by one, so the pattern of ECAT will be given below.
ECAT Test 2023 Pattern

How TO Prepare ECAT Test
As all of you know, the ECAT Test will be for the Engineering and Tech programs so the ECAT pattern will differ from MDCAT. 3 types of students will be appearing in ECAT papers, (1) General Combination {Math-Chem, Physic} (2) Computer Science (3) Statics.
General subjects that will appear in the ECAT test
- Mathematics
- Physic
- Chemistry
- English
Computer subjects that will appear in the ECAT test
- Math
- Physic
- English
- Computer Science
Statics subjects that will appear in the ECAT test

Read:- ECAT Books
So, let’s start with how you can maximize your time and efficiently prepare ECAT. These tips and tricks are going to be very helpful to you.
If you do not want to score well in ECAT, then okay, do not read this article. But if you want to get admission to your college of choice, then you have to invest your time and energy.
There is a rule called the “80/20 principle”. It dictates that when you spend 80% of your time researching something, the rest of the 20% of work becomes as smooth as it can be.
So without any further delay, let’s get one step closer to a good ECAT score.
Self-belief
The first thing that you need for achieving anything isn’t hard work. It isn’t even how much you plan or the quality of notes you prepare. Or how sharp your mind is. It doesn’t even depend on whether someone is making sure you will succeed. But success depends on one thing above all. And that is YOU! Yes, it is a basic thing, but it is the truth.
Yes, you are the secret weapon and the special thing that is required to fulfill this task. But what if you do not even believe that you can pull it off?
If you look at board toppers or ECAT achievers, they are the same as you. They have the same 24 hours in a day that you have. So what is it that makes them who they are? It is their belief in themselves.
Planning
The next step is planning. If you plan the syllabus beforehand, your preparation will be streamlined. We already told you about the 80/20 principle right? Follow that. You can focus on your studies then. And that takes us to our next point.
Focus – Pomodoro technique
Now, how to focus on a single task. For that, you can try the Pomodoro technique. It works like this, you work for 25 minutes, then you take a 5 minutes break. You repeat this 3 more times but in your 4th turn, you take a huge 15 minutes break. This way, you will not tire yourself and keep focusing on your preparation for a longer time.
Practice maketh a man
Practice as much as you can. You should use different practice questions to test your knowledge and concepts. Never rely on the study alone. You can forget that, but once you practice it, you will not forget it that easily.
Positive reinforcement – Reward yourself
Reward yourself once you complete a lesson. This is important and will help you stay motivated and focused. Otherwise, it will get boring really fast.
Clear the concepts – This is NOT FSC!
Clear all the concepts, this is not your regular Fsc Exam. Those days are gone when you could simply open your book, read a line, cram it, and then be done with it. Clear the concepts and understand how things work. Make physics and Maths move in the real world.
Stick to the textbooks
You will get distracted by different preparatory books a lot. But you know what? The exam will come from your textbooks. So stick to them as much as you can. Clear all the concepts in them no matter what.
Note taking – Prepare good notes
Note-taking can help you a lot. Not only it will keep you engaged in your lessons, but these notes will also help you in your revision. I recommend you research the Cornell note-taking system. It helped me a lot in my ECAT preparation.
Also, make short notes of all the formulae in Maths and Physics. Try to rearrange them in different ways. This way, you can have a diverse perspective on the equations. Numerical problems will become smooth.
Shortlisting – Help yourself
Always shortlist! What I mean is make a list of concepts that are hard for you. Not everyone is perfect. Once you know your weaknesses, you can focus on them and become more confident when taking ECAT. Knowing your strengths and weaknesses is a plus point after all.
Also, make a shortcut for a lot of mathematical solutions. For example, the answer to 3/2 is 1.5. Or the square root of single-digit numbers. Trust me, this will save a lot of your time during the exam. Work smartly.
Past papers – The final phase
The final phase is testing all of your knowledge in Past papers. Now, you may face a different paper altogether. Only some questions will repeat. But, you will get first-hand knowledge about whether your preparation was enough for an actual ECAT.
Rest well before the test
For example, your test will start at 9:00 am. You should close all your books and go to bed at 10:00 pm. Make sure to have plenty of sleep. Do not stress and tire yourself. One must always be calm while analyzing. And your analytical skills will come in handy during ECAT. So, stay rested, stay sharp.
Entry Test Preparation Notes
The best Preparation of ECAT notes will be very important for attempting the entry test because these Notes will be Prepared According to the UET Syllabus, and these notes will consist of many Repeated questions that will become in the past papers ECAT.
Features of ECAT Notes are as Given Below.
