Educational boards to introduce new grading system

IBCC is going to replace the current grading system will a new one. As per this new grading system, GPA will replace the marks on the result card. This new system will replace the current one in 3 years. This change will be gradual so that the students won’t get confused. Also, as per the new criteria set by the educational boards across the country, passing marks will increase from 33% to 40%. Things will be finalized on Monday. The result card will be introduced in the 9th and 11th classes.

Educational boards to introduce new grading system

The passing score for all boards would be boosted from 33% to 40% under the new scheme. The GPA system will be implemented, and the marks sheet will no longer include the student’s grades. The redesigned “Result Card” certification will substitute the students’ previous Marks Sheet.

The new grading system will be adopted throughout the country. In the matric and intermediate, the new scheme will gradually replace the old system over the following three years.

The present enrollment and intermediate mark sheets will be taken down beginning this year, with the scores of grades 9 and 11. On Monday, the new result card scheme will be authorized. The IBCC conference, which is anticipated to be conducted in Karachi, would include the chairmen of school boards from around the nation.

Meeting with the Sindh Education Board

In the latest meeting held at IBCC Islamabad, the SEB was given briefing on the new grading system. The analyst for BISE Multan himself gave the presentation. In this presentation, the analyst Qazi Mujeeb ur Rahman explained various things such as the new grading system, how it can be implemented, and how it will benefit the students.

The new grading system will be implemented from the first phase of 2024. It was also important to note that att the members in this meeting accepted the new system. Things are going in the right direction.

How will this change be implemented?

This system will be implemented in three phases.

First phase

Following changes will be made in the first phase starting from 2023

• The word “fail” will not be used
• Marks and GPA will be used at the same time
• Passing marks increased from 33% to 40%
• IBCC will implement this for 9th and 11th classes

Second Phase

In this phase, these changes will be made starting in 2024

• The marks section will be deleted
• GPA will be used
• This will be implemented in the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th classes.
• On the result cared, they will present the result as “The candidate has passed with ____/5 GPA

Third Phase

The final stage will be implemented in 2025. It will consist of the following changes

• The new system will be implemented with full force
• GPA will replace marks
• The candidate will not be declared as Fail

Conclusion

IBCC will implement this system in three years. They are doing it in phases to avoid any confusion. Whether it is a good or bad move, only time will tell it. It is encouraging that they will remove the word “Fail.” This is a great move. As far as the other things are concerned, let’s watch and see.
