Can I join AFNS after Matric?

First and foremost, we must inform you that AFNS positions are solely available to women who choose to join the Pakistan Army as nurses. After matric and intermediate FA/FSc, females can also apply for AFNS and start their AFNS test preparation. This is a fantastic opportunity for women who desire to work as nurses in the Pakistani army.

Eligibility Criteria for AFNS

The Pakistan Army’s management has established several criteria by which females can be chosen to join the army. Only females who meet this requirement will be accepted into the Pakistani Army. The eligibility requirement to become Armed Forces Nursing Services (AFNS) is as follows:

  • Applicants must be unmarried, separated, widowed, or divorced and free of debt. While trained nurses might be married or unmarried, their marital status is not a problem.
  • Untrained candidates might be between the ages of 17 and 25, whilst trained nurses must be between the ages of 18 and 28.
  • A Pakistani nationality is required of the student. Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir residents are also eligible to participate. To join the Pakistan Army, a person with dual nationality must relinquish their other citizenship.
  • Candidates must be at least 5 feet tall.
  • The body mass index must be used to calculate the weight.
  • Qualification: A minimum of 55% in Matric with Science is required. A minimum of 50% in FSC Pre-Medical is required.


The Army’s management has also established criteria for those who are disqualified to join the Pakistan Army as Armed Forces Nursing Services to keep the selection process simple and authentic (AFNS). The following individuals are ineligible to join the Pakistani army:

  • Candidates who have been denied twice by the General Headquarters are ineligible to apply for Armed Forces Nursing Services in the Pakistan Army (AFNS).
  • Candidates who have been medically found unfit by the Appeal Medical Board are not eligible to join the Pakistan Army.
  • The candidate has a history of being involved in offensive, unofficial, or illegal court activity.
  • Candidates who have resigned or withdrawn from any Armed Forces, as well as those who have been pronounced weak or unsuitable, are ineligible to apply.
  • Candidates who have been fired from a government position are unable to join the Pakistan Army.
  • Candidates who have already registered with PNC and are new to the company are not eligible to apply.

How to apply for AFNS after Matric?

On the 17th of August, AFNS online Registration opened. The deadline for registering is September 16. Interested candidates can register on the website www.joinpakarmy.gov.pk. As a result, the individual’s e-mail address will be emailed with the test date and time. On the computerized roll number slip, applicants will report the date and time of the preliminary test.

You can also apply online if you do not have an internet connection. You must go to the nearest recruitment center (RC) or army selection center (AS) for this reason. Take all of your prior educational records, your CNIC (or the CNIC of your father or mother if you are under the age of 18), your B-form, your Birth Certificate, and six colored attested pictures by a Gazette Officer. The roll number slips will be obtained from this location.


Is the AFNS pay scale comparable to that of officers?

No. Nurses in the Armed Forces Nursing Service (AFNS) are paid less than officers (PCO). Even if a nurse holds the rank of Captain, she is not paid at the same rate as BPS-17 (a regular army captain officer).

Is the AFNS uniform the same as the uniform used by Lady Officers?

No. The military Sarhi-style uniform is worn by the lady officers (PCO). AFNS, on the other hand, dresses in a shalwar kameez. Nurses used to wear white uniforms. In previous years, the shalwar kameez was modified to a brown military color.

In the Pakistan Army, do nurses count as officers?

No. In the Pakistan Army, nurses are not considered commissioned officers. Nursing officers, like subedars and havildars, are classified as junior commissioned officers (JCOs) and non-commissioned officers, respectively (NCOs). They are regarded in their field and for the service, they have provided, but they are not recognized to be part of the formal officer cadre.
